WordPress to static

Move your WordPress site to a fast static site.

Keep the design you paid for. Lose the updates, the hacks, the slow pages and the monthly bills. We rebuild your WordPress site as plain, fast pages and look after it afterwards.

What it means

A WordPress site builds every page from a database each time someone visits, and relies on plugins from many different developers. A static site is the finished pages, ready to go. There is no database to attack and no plugin to break, so it loads fast and stays that way.

Who it suits

Owner run businesses whose site is mostly pages and pictures that change a few times a year: salons, trades, photographers, therapists, restaurants, small shops and studios. If your site is a brochure, a portfolio or a small shop, it is probably a good fit.

Who it does not suit

Sites that need lots of people logging in, a large blog edited daily, or memberships, are usually better left on WordPress. Shops with many products can still go static, but they need a back office. We built one for ECRU Studios, so we will tell you honestly which side of the line you are on.

How it works

First we take a full copy of your live site and keep it safe. Then we rebuild it as static pages and fix what we find on the way: broken links, missing image descriptions, heavy images and the search basics. You review it side by side, it goes live only when you say, and a restore point stays in place.

What you keep

Your design, your words, your photos and your page addresses. Where an address has to change we set up a redirect, so nothing you have earned is lost. You can still change your phone number and email yourself.

Questions

Will my site look different?

No. The aim is the same design, rebuilt so it loads faster and needs no maintenance. If you want changes we can make them at the same time.

Will I lose my Google rankings?

We keep your page addresses or redirect them, so the pages Google already knows carry across. Nobody can promise a ranking, but moving carefully is how you protect what you have.

Can I still edit my site?

Small changes like contact details and text are straightforward, and we can look after bigger changes for you. If you edit your site every day, WordPress may suit you better, and we will say so.

What about contact forms and bookings?

Forms keep working, built to send to your email. If you take bookings or orders we can build a proper system for that, as we did for Lit Studios and ECRU Studios.

What does it cost?

It depends on the size of the site, and we quote after looking at it. Send us your address and we will tell you straight what we would change and what it could save you.

What if I want to go back?

A restore point stays in place, and you keep a complete copy of your original site. Going back is always possible.
